Card packaging

Available options for card packaging
BFinance offers three types of physical cards for program partners.

1. Generic Cards

Description: A simple white card with no program-specific branding. Timeline: Available immediately to all your users. Recommended Use Cases: Ideal if you want to go to market quickly, launch a pilot program, or issue a small quantity of cards (under 1,000).

2. Semi-Custom Cards

Description: Add your company logo to the front of a generic white card. Timeline: Logo customization typically takes about 4 weeks. Custom carriers (packaging) are also available and may require an additional 2–3 weeks for setup with the manufacturer. Recommended Use Cases: Perfect for brands seeking a fast go-to-market option with a more branded look and feel. Also suitable for pilot launches or smaller volumes (under 1,000 cards).

3. Custom Cards

Description: A fully customized experience — you can design both the front and back of your card. You may also select special materials such as metal, glass, or illuminated finishes, and design your own custom shipping carriers and delivery materials. Timeline: Custom cards, carriers, and envelopes can be designed and produced specifically for your brand. The design phase typically takes a few weeks, followed by a manufacturing lead time of 2 to 3+ months (depending on complexity). After production and testing, your custom cards will be made available through issuing APIs. Recommended Use Cases: Best suited for businesses where physical cards are a core part of the brand experience. These cards feature your brand in customers’ wallets and are ideal for programs with large-scale or ongoing issuance needs.

Creating Custom Physical Cards

Visa Brand Requirements

All card designs must comply with Visa’s branding standards, including placement and spacing of design elements. The following are the main design guidelines. Visa Logo
  • The Visa logo must be one of the following colors: Visa Blue, White, Black, Silver, or Gold.
  • Visa also provides the Premium Visa Brand Mark (PVBM) in blue, silver, gold, or black. Using the PVBM allows omission of the Visa Dove on the card’s back.
  • The logo can be positioned in one of the following corners:
    • Lower right
    • Upper right
    • Upper left
  • The Visa logo must have sufficient contrast with the card background and must always be included in your design.

Submission Guidelines

When your design files are ready:
  1. Submit them in .ai or .eps (vector) format.
  2. Each design element must be in its own separate layer.
  3. Use CMYK or PMS color modes only.
Once complete, upload your files using the form provided by your account manager. The form will also ask for key details to start the design approval and manufacturing process, including:
  • Program type
